Here you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions about parking, accessibility and other practical issues at the museum.
All parking at FÆNGSLET is free, and there is no time limit. We have several parking areas. There are parking areas for cars and a limited number of spaces for busses at FÆNGSLET. As well as two parking spaces for disabled. When very busy, sidewalk parking is allowed on the premises as well as parking at Vesthallen on Fussingsvej
Busses transporting museum guests cannot expect available parking during concert days, but are welcome to drop off and pick up passengers as close to the FÆNGSLET entrance as possible. Depending on the specific event.
FÆNGSLET is located 1,6 km from the railway station. It takes about 15-20 minutes to walk from the station, and about 10 minutes by bike. The local bus line number 9 stop at Vesthallen/Borgmestervej near the museum.
The museum has lifts and ramps which makes it possible for wheelchair users to get around the exhibition areas on the different levels. The ramps leading into the building are steep and can be difficult to climb on your own. The store staff will be happy to help if needed. Please note, that the old building has some narrow passages which are inaccessible for larger wheelchairs.
There are dedicated disability parking spaces in front of the main entrance.
Food and beverages are not allowed in the museum; water excepted. You are more than welcome to drop into FÆNGSLET’s own eatery. Information about it here.
It is not allowed to bring dogs into the Prison Museum, if well behaved and on a lead they are welcome in the outdoor areas. We can provide a bowl of drinking water for dogs. Please remember to pick up after your dog
